Cosmetic Dentistry FAQs: Orthodontics & Invisible Braces
Can my crooked or twisted teeth be straightened?
We straighten teeth with orthodontics (braces). This is usually done during the teenage years, when the teeth are going through a period of growth. However, many adults also have treatment to straighten their crooked teeth or to approve their appearance. The procedure can take longer in adults and is therefore more expensive.
Invisible Braces: Clearstep / Invisalign
For cosmetic reasons, we can use clear or plastic braces which are hardly noticeable. If you are considering orthodontics such as invisalign (invisaline), come along and talk to us we can discuss your treatment options and advise you accordingly. At The Dental Lounge we use the Clearstep® system of ‘invisible’ braces, read more on the Clearstep® website.
Are there any alternatives to orthodontics?
We can use cosmetic contouring to improve the appearance of teeth and it is ideal if you have slightly crowded teeth. However, in contouring the teeth a small amount of enamel would be lost. Contouring can also be used to improve the shape and appearance of your gums. The only other alternative is to crown or veneer the teeth.
